Taekwon-Do ……...A way of life. What exactly is the meaning of Taekwon-Do? To put it simply Taekwon-do is a version of unarmed combat designed for the purpose of self defence. It is the scientific use of the body in the method of self defence, a body that has gained the ultimate use of its facilities through intensive physical and mental training Translated literally. TAE Stands for jumping or flying, to kick or smash with the foot. KWON Denotes the fist chiefly to punch or destroy with the hand or fist. DO Means an art or way. The right way built and paved by the saints and sages in the past.
Taekwon-do was given its name on 11th April 1955, Founder Father of Taekwon-do General Choi Hong Hi

Mr McIntyre started Taekwon-do in 1988 with Oh Do Kwan (WTF) Newcastle N.S.W
Quick fell in love with this great art and move through the ranks to black belt by the end of 1990.
Winning his first state title as a green belt, with many more (WTF)Taekwon-do national and states championships along the way.

After competing in many ITF Taekwon-do events ran by IL-Shim ITF Taekwon-do in Sydney Mr McIntyre decided it was time to change federations and moved his school to an ITF school.
​
Through IL-Shim Taekwon-do Mr McIntyre was opened to the world of the ITF, in 1992 and again in 1994 attended the IIC with the founder of Taekwon-do Mr McIntyre had the opportunity of performing patterns on the floor with the founder of Taekwon-do.
Mr McIntyre continued with his success in the tournament seen winning many ITF National and State Titles in Patterns and sparring.
Mr McIntyre was selected to represent Australia at the World Championship in Malaysia in 1994.

Mr Nguyen joined ITF Newcastle, from our friend at Bai Rui Taekwon-do in QLD.
he is a welcome part of our National Team and will represent Australia at the up and coming ITF World Cup in Sydney

BooSabum Scott Gallagher - 3rd Degree
Mr Gallagher started Taekwon-do with ITF Newcastle in 1996, moving through the ranks to Black belt In 1999.
Mr Gallagher supports ITF Newcastle and in members with dedication to Taekwon-do like no other.

BooSabum Samuel Murray - 3rd Degree
Mr Murray started Taekwon-do at the age of 10, he showed early that he was committed to Taekwon-do and has developed over the year into a National Competitor.

Mr Murray was promoted to 3rd Degree black belt in February 2016.
Mr Murray was selected on the National team to represent Australia at the World Championships in Ireland in 2017.
Mr Murray is 2 time National Champion in sparring 2016 & 2017

Sam is also the assistant instructor and runs classes at Lambton Dojang.
